Words from the artist, Josie... I was interested in creating a portrait that felt both elegant and delightfully silly. The black Labrador's patient expression contrasts with the Dalmatian's fashionable confidence, transforming an ordinary pet portrait into a whimsical character study. Working in oil paint allowed me to build rich layers of colour and texture while keeping the brushwork visible and lively. Every element was designed to spark curiosity and a smile. This painting is a reminder that a little whimsy can make even the most formal portrait feel wonderfully alive.
